~~Heavenly Scent Summer Fair Success~~

My wonderful friend Amy, the most talented artist I know
Another great friend Kari, the soldered pendant queen

My friend Kari makes soldered pendants and altered dominoes

Some of my favorite pieces that I've done

More of my own things

My own things

The weather was outstanding (65-70 degrees and mostly sunny), the crowd was steady and heavy, the company was great ( I was booth neighbors with one of my best freinds, and booth co-owners with another one of my best friends), the sales were surprisingly wonderful considering the economy, so all in all this past weekend was a pleasant surprise! I even got alot of people to sign uo for some workshops I am teaching this fall. A few blog posts back I posted about the Heavenly Scent Herb Farm Summer Faire, and it continues to be one of the most attended fairs in this area of lower Michigan. Some pictures for anyone who would like to see the set up. It all went together so effortlessly. It looked like we were pro's at this, which we definitely are not!

Tag Swap Filled!

I'm thrilled at the interest in joining the altered tag swap I am hosting. I am afraid it is closed to anyone who has not yet signed up, but if this one goes over as well as I think it will, I will be hosting more in the future. Just a thought.. perhaps next time I could open it to 11 or 12 people and have everyone send $1 to help defray the cost of the tags? Please stay tuned for photos of the altered creations everyone makes and shares!

Proposing an Altered Tag Art Swap : Who's In?!?

Recently I placed an order for 100 manila string/hang tags, and plan on using about half of them for my own art tags, but I thought a GREAT way to use up the remaining half or so, would be to propose an altered hang gift tag swap for my artsy/ blog friends! What it consists of is this: I have enough tags to supply up to 8 people with manila hang tags, complete with string size 4 3/4 x 2 3/8 inches. They would be provided enough tags to alter/collage/embellish in any way their heart desires, and make one altered tag to EACH of the other participants. In other words, if 6 people sign up, they would get 5 tags, to give to the other 5 participants. Everyone then would recieve a tag from everyone who joined in. I think it would be tons of fun to see how other creative people make each gift tag their own work of art, and to share them with others. I would send the tags out, then in turn you would send them back to me after your art has been completed on them (2 weeks at the most). I would then divide them up and send the completed altered tags to the members of the swap. From start to finish, this swap would take approximately 3-4 weeks. I need the names and addresses of those that would like to join in, and I will take the first 8 people who sign up. Get creative, share with other artists, and receive goodies in the mail, all for free! So who's in !?!

Heavenly Scent Herb Farm : Workshops and the Summer Fair

I have been fortunate enough to have been asked to teach several workshops at the most amazing shop in this whole area, Heavenly Scent Herb Farm. I gave 2 classes this past Spring, and will give 2 more this fall. I will also have a booth at The Summer Fair, which is is scheduled for the 29th and 30th of this month. I highly recommend ANYONE in the area of Fenton, Michigan to attend. You will become a frequent guest if you aren't already. In the meantime, enjoy the photos, which do not even do this shop justice!

This Place is a Zoo!

Meet Miss Byrne
Miss Byrne and her new "digs"

And this is Bowie Cat
I have just recently acquired my daughters 2 animals as she is passing through on her way to New York to live. I once vowed I would never ever in a million years take on her animals when she moved, but weakened as the days wore on, then eventually I vowed to not let a total stranger adopt them. "Who knows where they might end up" was my logic, so here they are now safely at my house. The 5 x 7 foot rabbit hutch is a blessing, from a friend who was no longer using it. At least now Miss Byrne can be outside for most of the year. She has seperate "quarters" where she can be completely tucked away from wind, rain, snow and cold. Now if my 2 dogs would just leave poor Bowie Cat alone!
